Empowering Preteenagers: Understanding Consent and Body Ownership
How can communication design aid in educating the preteen (age 6 to 10) population of India regarding the importance of consent and body ownership?
Project Abstract
Being a part of a conservative society and country has led to complexity in understanding and accepting certain concepts in many ways. As an adult myself I look back at my journey from being a preteenager to an adult I have realized how important it is to accept your body as it is and to value it and protect it from any harm. This can only be implemented by teaching and educating the young population of society.
This research project, therefore, became important as it explored how self-awareness and ownership can be developed in children through basic teaching practices so that they can become independent and learn how to be safe and protect themselves in unknown environments with unknown people.
