Echoes of Elsewhere

Naarm/Melbourne's design scene has long been shaped by its multinational character, where migrants whether trained designers or everyday makers draw from diverse cultural inheritances to create work that speaks to both singular and collective experiences.

From hand letterings, signages to textile works, they reveal how design becomes a language for negotiating belonging, honouring heritage, and imagining new forms of cultural expression.

Together, they map the contours of a design practice rooted in multiplicity, where hybridity is not fragmentation but richness, and adaptation is an ongoing creative act that defines our city's design landscape.
