Challenging Implicit Cultural ‘Stereotypes’
How can Design help in breaking stereotypes attached to different cultures?
Project Abstract
Have you heard “Where are you really from?” or “You don’t look Indian enough”? If yes, you have either been stereotyped or have stereotyped someone else.
In today's world, while people are increasingly aware and sensitive to various issues, casual stereotyping remains disturbingly prevalent. This paradox raises an intriguing question: Why does it persist so subtly, even in a society that prides itself on being 'woke' to such matters?
Everyday Jabs aims to deliver weekly comics based on real instances circling ‘Implicit Cultural Stereotypes’ in a topical way through social media and print. It strives to inform the readers about the common misconceptions rather than dwelling on and reinforcing larger stereotypes.
