The SDGs Localisation
How might we encourage Melburnians to reflect on their part in supporting the SDGs?
Project Abstract
As a communication designer, I have always been interested in social campaigns and the effective dissemination of information using various methods. My initial encounter with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) occurred through a Service Design course. This engagement deepened during a project for the City of Melbourne in the Communication Design Entrepreneurship Studio at RMIT University, which revealed challenges in the widespread dissemination and public understanding of the SDGs. This research builds on existing university work that I have done responding to the City of Melbourne’s creation of a set of indicators measuring progress towards the SDGs. It explores promoting localised engagement with the SDGs in Melbourne through communication design.
