Between the Presence and Absence
How might we create opportunities for playful explorations during unstructured time in non-places through a design practice?
Project Abstract
This research explores the dynamic relationships between design and the physical world, specifically examining how opportunities within non-places during unstructured time can be harnessed for playful and poetic explorations in design practice. It seeks to understand how communication design manifests in space to create immersive experiences that facilitate reflection and meaningful human connections. By transforming physical environments to evoke storytelling, this study aims to express ideas that foster connections through emotions, memories, participation, and action.
While storytelling is often viewed as a cultural tradition of narrative sharing, this project delves deeper into the interplay between physical experiences and the creation of knowledge-based environments that enhance interactions.
