Architecture, Blue-collar Workers, and Polar Conditions

The poster campaign focuses on using communication design as a tool to make the exploitation of blue-collar expatriates in Kuwait visible through the photographic documentation of the architecture that contains them. It seeks to start a dialogue with the middle-class and the ruling power and to empower the low-income community. My work aims to expand the practice of communication design by adopting the principles of documentary photography where the practice is reflective, not reflexive, of the environment it exists in. I took inspiration from Jan Van Toorn’s work such as Still Lifes with Borrowed Furniture.
